Can A Phone RPG Respect Your Time?
The reputation of mobile RPGs is grim: endless grinding, energy meters, screens buried in currencies. And a lot of that reputation is earned. But playing Realmforge Saga reminded me that the genre can be different on phones.
What good ones do is respect your time. Auto-battle for the trivial fights, manual control for the ones that matter, and progression that comes from smart play rather than sheer hours. That balance is rare but it exists.
If you're diving into a phone RPG, I'd suggest committing to the main story and ignoring the side systems until you understand them. A lot of the overwhelm comes from tapping every glowing icon on day one.
The genre isn't for everyone on mobile — it asks for real sessions, not bursts. But when a game gets the pacing right, it's some of the best value on the platform.
